Parent Freebies & Coupons

Image
Becoming a parent can be an emotional rollercoaster, with so many emotions and also the added cost for some people can be a fair bit of added pressure. They say you can never afford children, but there are certainly things out there to help! There is the usual financial help for everyone like using cash back apps and websites, product testing and even freebie/sale sites and apps. But there are also specific coupons and freebies aimed at expecting parents and parents of young children. As I'm expecting my 10th niece or nephew, I thought it would be a good time to share the following information to other expecting relatives or people out there. Free Nappies / Nappy pants Rascal + Friends / Sample packs:  https://www.rascalandfriends.com/uk/sample-packs Beaming Babies / Biodegradable nappy packs:  https://beamingbaby.co.uk/   Netmums & Aldi / Free pack of size 1 nappies voucher (4-11lb)  https://uk.surveymonkey.com/r/2VLH5QQ   Pampers / FREE Premature baby nappies:  https://www.

Preparing to Comp

Image
Comping There are many reasons why people enter online competitions or giveaways. My main interest started when I was unwell and had lots of spare time and unable to do much else and now I’m hooked. Where it all started My first taste of competitions was when; our honorary Aunt used to come by every week and bring sweets with her. One Saturday (when Freddos were only 10p! haha) they had a competition on the packaging. All of my siblings received the same sweets, but I clearly picked up the winning Freddo wrapper and it revealed that I had won a choice of Playstation game from the list, of which I selected ‘Crash Bash’ a game full of fun mini games for a maximum of 4 players. We had so much fun! Years later in my teenage years, when we finally had access to the internet. I entered a free competition with Heart Radio online and I received a letter through the post saying I had won a large, flat screen Television and all I had to do was call the number in the letter. Being the sceptica

Helping our wild hedgehogs

Image
Helping our visitor Hedgehogs It is that time of year again, we are all looking to neaten up our gardens if we haven’t already, remove any debris, de-weed and mow our lawns. We may even be fixing up some of our fence panels and filling in holes. I’d like to ask you to please take extra care when removing any debris; you may have a little prickly friend visiting and nesting down under the wood, bricks or leaves. Please lift your items up gently and have a peak before potentially disturbing them. They may also have some little hoglets, also referred to as pups, urchins, kits or piglets, that shouldn’t be disturbed, otherwise their mother may abandon them or eat them. Mother hedgehogs will feed their babies until they are around 8 weeks old, before they venture out on their own. Sadly the hedgehog population is in a huge decline, we need to help look out for our late night garden visitors. It is estimated that the hedgehog population has fallen by 30% - 50%, since 2000. They do usually pr

Turtle Platform Craft

We’ve had our turtle over 10 years now and we’ve never found a ramp/basking area that we really liked or felt worked as well as it should. So it was about time we built one! We bought Mitch in 2012, as we rented an apartment and were only allowed a fish tank, but we wanted an animal together. We researched the smallest species of turtle that you could keep as a pet and we decided on a Common musk turtle. Sadly we didn't look into rescuing turtles, plus I wouldn't have known where to look. We would have loved to have rescued and would do in the future if we were to consider another one.  Mitch was the size of a 20 pence piece when we took her home, we didn't know her gender as it is quite difficult to tell when they are so small. We got the tank ready, with filter and heater, making sure she had space to climb out of the water and bask when she wanted.  When she was this small most ornaments or rocks are a suitable size as a basking spot!  As she grew we looked into larger p

Spring Planting Preparation

Image
Spring is on its way and you can now start preparing your garden. First thing you can do is check your soil in various spaces of your garden, this can help you decide what plants should thrive in those areas. Take into consideration the soil, where the sun goes, at what time of day and what animals have access through your garden. You can pick up soil pH testing kits for around £10-£20, just scrape some soil into the pot, add some solution and you should get a colour either red, orange, yellow or green. Green means you have more alkaline soil (8-14) and red would be more acidic (0-7)  Alkaline soil plants: Lily of the valley - popular plant that loves alkaline soil. Polemoniums - pretty flower to bring colour to your garden, loves thick alkaline soil, add mulch to bulk out the soil before planting. Lavender - adding some depth to your garden, loves to be in the full sun, will add scent and help keep the flies away. Rosemary and Thyme - both love to be grown in well drained soil in the

I’ve tried different brands, scents and even types of toothpaste in the past and tend to just stick to the one I know. Even though I personally love those that are minty and will leave my mouth feeling fresh. The first time in the morning, I put a little more on than nee
